Waxing your lady garden. When strimming just won't cut it

Well ladies this is it. We've reached the summer, a time where we can no longer hide below layers of chunky knits and days of days of sunshine, pool party bikinis and by default..........................hair removal .

Now I know what a lot of you are thinking, can i not just grab myself a razor  and swing it about down there with gay abandon. You could but i am speaking to the woman who could on frequent occasion she mistaken for the amazon jungle and have to fight nature to avoid looking like this:
Attractive I know

So if  like me find shaving leaves you looking like a premature porcupine and you're back to full bush status by the time you've finished, I've got your back (and wherever else you store your insulation). For me it has to be wax, it leaves you with a smooth canvas and doesn't grow back in 5 seconds. However if you are unprepared (and lets be honest if your prepared as well) it can feel like you are storing 1200000 fire ants in your knickers.  These are my tips on how to avoid looking like you've smuggled a small furry animal to the beach, while avoiding the pain of a thousand burning suns.

  1. Take a shower
Many people think that holding a cold cloth or an ice cube on the are will numb it, and as a result you'll feel less pain.NO. By cooling the area you cause your pores to close and the hair follicles to tighten, meaning that ripping out the hair will be even more painful and difficult.  By taking a shower you open up the pores and making waxing a easier and more pleasant (that is more pleasant, this is still not fun)

   2.   Make sure your hair is the right length

If you are waxing make sure you have enough hair for the wax to grip but not too much that it takes up excess wax space. Use hair dressing scissors to trim the hair to roughly 1/4”  this  ensures that there will be no more pain than necessary (long hair) but no hair will be missed (short hair)

   3.   Use wax strips

If you find hot wax too difficult, wax strips are a great alternative, they are super easy to use and if the right ones are chosen they can have great results. Some good examples are Nair or Veet which you can find in most drug stores including Boots, Superdrug, Etos,Ulta, CVS etc. If you find they aren't working, i hold mine above a candle for 5 seconds, and the wax has completely melted and the strips are good to go .

  4. Use pain medication

If you know you respond badly to waxing take a mild painkiller like a paracetamol of ibuprofen (ensure you are ware of your own limitations and don't take medication you don't need or are unsure about). Take a mild dose 30 minutes to an hour before you know you are going wax.

   5.Music

If all else fails, put on some inspiring music and scream. It can be surprisingly helpful to let it out while you......... pull it out.

So have fun.

And keep swimming
